Tim Kubart is a Grammy Award–winning musician and creator whose work spans concerts, television, books, and songwriting. His latest stage show, Really Real You, combines pop music, tap dancing, and storytelling in a joyful full-band experience for families. Blending music and movement with social–emotional themes, the show encourages audiences to embrace their feelings, and celebrate the freedom to be themselves.
Tim discovered his passion for making music with young people while volunteering in an NYC shelter nursery. Over the past 20 years, he has grown from leading preschool sing-alongs to performing on some of the country’s most celebrated stages, including Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits. Called “Kindie’s breakout star” by New York Family and “the best of the best” by Parents’ Choice, Tim won the Grammy Award for Best Children’s Album in 2016 for HOME and was nominated again in 2018 for BUILDING BLOCKS. His songs are favorites on SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live, and he has traveled internationally with the U.S. State Department, performing and teaching on (almost) every continent.
On screen, Tim was Emmy-nominated as the host of Sprout’s live preschool program Sunny Side Up, where he welcomed guests including Julie Andrews, Astronaut Chris Hadfield, and Michelle Obama, always alongside the beloved Chica the Chicken. He and Chica also performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for four consecutive years.
Tim writes songs for Sesame Street (including Elmo’s duet with Ellie Goulding), has published picture books with HarperCollins, created a show for The Wiggles, and hosted the Highlights! Magazine podcast. He has also toured the world as the exuberant “Tambourine Guy,” an original member of the viral collective Postmodern Jukebox.
Today, Tim continues to tour his original music on a never-ending tour, collaborates with artists to bring fresh voices to children’s media, and teaches elementary music at The Speyer School in Manhattan.
