A Detroit native, The New York Times recently called Sal Viviano “… a luxuriant Vocalist with effortless style…” Viviano began his career as a teenager opening for Comedy Greats of the last generation, in Chicago, and in Showrooms throughout the Midwest. Broadway credits: The Three Musketeers, Romance/Romance, City of Angels, Falsettos, The Life, The Full Monty, Closer Than Ever, and Billy Flynn in Chicago. Starting early on in his career, Mr. Viviano was chosen by a litany of some of the greatest Songwriters of all-time to introduce and record their new songs including: Cy Coleman, Burton Lane, Jule Styne, Alan Jay Lerner, Sheldon Harnick, Michel Legrand, Stephen Schwartz, Ervin Drake, Alan Menken, Bob Merrill, Tom Jones, Harvey Schmidt, Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Meredith Wilson, and the very last song Irving Berlin ever wrote and published…
Mr. Viviano has also appeared headlining in-Concert with Orchestras and ‘Big Bands’ at more intimate venues such as 54 Below, The Iridium Jazz Club, The Russian Tea Room, The Harlem Yacht Club, The 92nd Street Y (Lyrics and Lyricists – 16 Seasons), The White House (by Invitation of President and Mrs. Reagan), The Inaugural Concert (Clinton / Gore), Carnegie Hall, Wolf Trap, The Waldorf Astoria’s Starlight Roof and Ballroom, London’s Palladium, The Kennedy Center, The Hollywood Bowl…, Town Hall and at such iconic NYC outdoor venues as: Central Park, Arthur Ashe Stadium – U.S. Tennis Open, Bryant Park, Snug Harbor, Prospect Park, World Trade Center Plaza, Union Square, Wolf’s Pond Park, and NJ’s Liberty State Park.
