Life’s WORC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including severe autism, to lead independent, meaningful, and productive lives. Founded in 1971 by Victoria Schneps-Yunis, it grew from a courageous grassroots effort advocating for residents of the Willowbrook State School into a comprehensive provider of person-centered services and support.
Today, Life’s WORC serves more than 2,000 people and their families across Queens, Manhattan, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. Its programs include residential and community services, day habilitation, supported employment, vocational training, behavioral and at-home support, social and recreational opportunities, and trust and financial-planning services. Every program is designed to honor the individual strengths, aspirations, choices, and potential of each person served.
For more than five decades, Life’s WORC has opened hearts, doors, and minds—creating opportunity, strengthening families, and building communities in which people of all abilities are valued, empowered, and able to thrive. Support from this benefit concert will help sustain and expand this life-changing mission.
