Stoker Devonshire and his wife, Amanda, have been collectors for the last 40 years. Since they moved to Chatsworth in 2006 they have commissioned many works of both fine art and design and developed the exhibitions programme extensively.
Chatsworth has one of Europe’s most significant art collections. The diverse collection has grown with each generation, and the Devonshire Collection encompasses Old Masters, contemporary ceramics, artefacts from Ancient Egypt, modern sculpture and computer portraits to name but a few.
The Duke sits on the main board of Sotheby’s and in April 2016 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy in London.
