Since founding his firm in 1987, renowned New York City- based interior decorator Alex Papachristidis has been known for bringing a curatorial eye to every detail of the lush and collected interiors he designs. At home with a wide array of styles, colors, and designs, his broad taste allows him to collaborate with his clients to create spaces that suit their ways of living. These relationships often last years and span multiple homes, each one a reflection of its particular location and style of architecture.
Papachristidis studied at the Parsons School of Design and credits his time traveling during his youth as cultivating his eye for interior decorating. His cosmopolitan sensibilities have brought his work into homes throughout the United States, across Europe, and as far- flung as Saudi Arabia, as well as into the pages of Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Town & Country, VERANDA, House Beautiful, The New York Times, and many more publications worldwide. Papachristidis is a regular fixture on the Elle Decor A-List and Architectural Digest’s AD100 List.
In 2021 Papachristidis was honored by the New York School of Interior Design as the recipient of the prestigious Albert Hadley Lifetime Achievement Award. His first book, The Age of Elegance: Interiors by Alex Papachristidis, was published in 2012 and his second book, The Elegant Life: Rooms that Welcome and Inspire, was published in 2022, both by Rizzoli and met with great success.
In interiors projects, Papachristidis remains involved with the client down to the finishing details, whether finding the perfect place for a coveted accessory, securing the right florist, or assembling tablescapes for each occasion. His love for the art of the table has led him to create Everyday Elegance with Lisa McCarthy, which is dedicated to making beautifully curated tables accessible.
Papachristidis believes that charity begins at home. His extensive charitable work has included participation on four occasions in the Kips Bay Decorator Show House, raising crucial funds for the after-school and enrichment programs of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. A lover of animals, Papachristidis is proud to sit on the board of the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons.
