Join artists Jason Bard Yarmosky and Ross Bleckner for a conversation moderated by Melanie Crader, Museum Director and Curator of Visual Arts at Guild Hall. The discussion will focus on Yarmosky’s current exhibition, Jason Bard Yarmosky: Time Has Many Faces, exploring the evolution and history of his practice. Bleckner—one of the most influential painters of his generation and a longtime educator—will reflect on Yarmosky’s work and their artistic dialogue, offering insight into process, influence, and the broader trajectory of contemporary painting.

  • Jason Bard Yarmosky

    Jason Bard Yarmosky, born in 1987 in New York, is an American artist known for his paintings and drawings.

    Yarmosky graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2010. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited and collected internationally. His work has been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, San Antonio Museum of Art, Addison Gallery of American Art, Brigham Young University Museum of Art, South Dakota Art Museum, Yellowstone Art Museum, Huntsville Museum of Art among others, including solo exhibitions at the Huntington Museum of Art and the University of Maine Museum of Art. Gallery exhibitions include New York City, Los Angeles, Paris, and Brussels.

  • Ross Bleckner

    Ross Bleckner was born in New York City and raised in Hewlett, on Long Island.  He received a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1971, and a Master of Fine Arts from Cal Arts in 1973.
     
    Bleckner has exhibited throughout the United States and Internationally at venues such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco;  ICA, Philadelphia; Kunsthalle, Zurich; Moderna Museet,  Stockholm; Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin; Reina Sofia, Madrid; L.A. County Museum, Los Angeles; Kunstmuseum Luzern, Luzern; and his work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of Art, New York, among others.
     
    For seventeen years, Bleckner served as the president of the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America, a non-profit, community based, AIDS research and treatment center. And in 2009 he was awarded the title of Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations for his work helping to rehabilitate child soldiers in northern Uganda.
     
    Ross Bleckner lives and works in East Hampton, NY, and New York City.
  • Melanie Crader

    Melanie Crader joined Guild Hall in Summer of 2023 as the inaugural director of visual arts as Guild Hall opened its newly renovated galleries. Recently, she served as deputy director at the Parrish Art Museum, Water Mill, NY, where she also served as interim director. For 8 years prior, Melanie held the role of Director of Exhibitions and Publication Management at the Hammer Museum, UCLA, Los Angeles, where she was responsible for financial and administrative oversight of all curatorial initiatives, exhibitions, and publications. Managing the institution’s renowned exhibition program, she collaborated with local, national, and international institutional partners including The Met, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Museum, MCA Chicago; Walker Art Center, Stedelijk Museum, and Pinacoteca de São Paulo.

    During six years at the Menil Collection in Houston, she managed the operating budget and exhibition program, led a variety of special projects including institutional publications, oversaw major digital infrastructure initiatives, and implemented long-term budget planning for building projects and a capital campaign. Before entering the non-profit sector, Melanie worked in the marketing and communications department of an international investment company.

    Originally from Louisiana, Melanie Crader, an artist and educator who taught at the university level, holds MFA from Ohio University, Athens; BA from McNeese State University, Lake Charles, LA; and attended the Banco Santander W30 Program, UCLA Anderson School of Management. She is a member of the American Exhibition Organizers and served on the Steering Committee from 2017 to 2021. For several years, she served on the Board of Directors and was an Artist Board Member of DiverseWorks Art Space, Houston.
