Guild Hall celebrates the stories, music, and community behind one of the East End’s most beloved institutions with an evening inspired by Bar: Told by Many, the new 400-page book chronicling the remarkable history of The Stephen Talkhouse.

In 1987, Peter Honerkamp and a group of family and friends took over the unassuming Amagansett bar and transformed it into a legendary live-music venue, where local favorites have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music. Nearly four decades later, Peter’s daughter Ruby Honerkamp—who grew up within the Talkhouse and its extended family of artists, staff, and regulars—helped bring its history to the page through photographs, memorabilia, and stories told by the many people who shaped it.

At Guild Hall, Peter and Ruby are joined by a rotating cast of special guests to share memories from behind the bar, backstage, and beyond, while longtime Talkhouse favorite Nancy Atlas leads a house band through the music that has kept Amagansett dancing for generations.

The program will be followed by a book sale and signing.
