Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Ron Howard is one of this generation’s most celebrated directors. From the critically acclaimed Oscar-winning dramas A BEAUTIFUL MIND (2001) and APOLLO 13 (1995) to the revealing documentaries WE FEED PEOPLE (2022) and PAVAROTTI (2019) and the hit comedies PARENTHOOD (1989) and SPLASH (1984), he has created some of Hollywood’s most memorable films and series.
Howard premiered his latest documentary, AVEDON, a deep dive into the life of the renowned photographer Richard Avedon, to rave reviews at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. The film will be released by Netflix this fall. His next narrative feature is the highly anticipated Amazon MGM Studios drama ALONE AT DAWN, starring Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway, currently in post-production for a 2027 release.
Additional recent projects include the critically acclaimed Jim Henson IDEA MAN (Disney+), a definitive portrait of Jim Henson’s life directed by Howard, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and won the Emmy Award® for Outstanding Documentary. His most recent narrative feature, EDEN—a survival thriller based on the 1930s real-life unsolved murders in the Galapagos Islands starring Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, and Sydney Sweeney—had its World Premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and was released in theaters in August 2025.
Howard founded Imagine Entertainment in the early 1980s with Brian Grazer, and they continue to run the company together as executive chairmen.
