Guild Hall is delighted to celebrate the artist Ugo Rondinone and his exhibition ugo rondinone: sunny days at the annual Summer Gala. This exhibition features some never-before-seen works by the New York-based, Swiss born artist as well as a community art collaboration with area school children. A specially commissioned performance by the Suffolk Symphonic Choir of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York leads you to dinner at neighboring Mulford Farm.
The Summer Gala is a visual and choral ode to the radiant work of Rondinone and will capture the beauty of the Hamptons’ golden hour. The evening honors Guild Hall longtime Trustee and devoted Museum Committee Chair, Michael Lynne, in memoriam.
The Gala is emceed by Bob Colacello, the former Editor-in-Chief of Interview and one of Andy Warhol’s closest creative collaborators. The Host Committee includes Brooke Shields, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, Katie Lee, and Vito Schnabel. The Artist Committee members include April Gornik, Cindy Sherman, Eric Fischl, Laurie Anderson, Mary Heilmann, and Tony Oursler.

Michael Lynne
A beloved and vital Trustee for over 25 years, Michael Lynne served as Vice-Chair of the Board and Chair of the Museum Committee at Guild Hall. He was the guiding force behind the transformation of the Museum program to one of national significance that included one-person exhibitions by artists like Barbara Kruger and Cindy Sherman. Among his diverse talents, Michael was a contemporary art connoisseur who served on the Board of the Museum of Modern Art, a film producer celebrated for his bold leadership at New Line Cinema which culminated in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and an advocate of Long Island wines who, as the proprietor of Bedell Cellars, raised the wine region’s profile. Through his many successes, Michael was first and foremost a friend and champion of artists. His devotion to Guild Hall propelled the institution to new heights.

Ugo Rondinone
Ugo Rondinone (born 1964 in Brunnen, Switzerland) is a renowned mixed-media artist who lives and works in New York. Recent exhibitions include, the world just makes me laugh at Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley; good evening beautiful blue at Bass Museum of Art, Miami; your age my age and the age of the rainbow, The Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow; let’s start this day again, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; every time the sun comes up, Place Vendome, Paris; girono d’oro + notti d’argento, Mercati die Traiano, Rome; seven magic mountains, Art Production Fund and Nevada Museum of Art/Desert of Nevada; vocabulary of solitude, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, I ♥ John Giorno, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, which in 2017 expanded to 13 venues across New York City. Rondinone’s work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, and the Dallas Museum of Art, among others.

Bob Colacello
Bob Colacello was born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island. He graduated Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1969, and Columbia University Graduate School of the Arts in 1971. By then, he had been hired to run Andy Warhol’s new magazine, Interview, a job he held for 13 years, becoming one of the artist’s closest creative collaborators. His memoir of that period, Holy Terror: Andy Warhol Up Close, has been widely acclaimed as the best book on the so-called “Pope of Pop.” From 1984 to 2017, Colacello was under exclusive contract to Vanity Fair, writing profiles and investigative pieces on cultural, social, and political subjects. In 2004, he published the first of a two-volume biography of the Reagans, Ronnie and Nancy: Their Path to the White House. He is currently writing the second volume on the White House years and afterward. In 2016, he curated his first art show at the Vito Schnabel Gallery in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
