Founded in 1986, the Guild Hall Academy of the Arts consists of up to 250 voting members, which is comprised of an impressive array of notable artists with ties to the Hamptons. Each year at the Academy Dinner, Guild Hall celebrates four honorees in the categories of Visual, Performing, and Literary Arts, and Leadership and Philanthropic Endeavors. This highly anticipated event is held annually in March in New York City. It is a unique, intimate experience that includes performances and a personal look at the life and work of each honoree. Previous Guild Hall Academy honorees include Edward Albee, Lauren Bacall, Mel Brooks, E.L. Doctorow, Mary Heilmann, Joseph Heller, Nathan Lane, Dina Merrill, Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Stroman, Steven Spielberg, Eli Wallach, and Kurt Vonnegut.
