Volunteer works the cashier station at the Clothesline Art Sale
Clothesline Art Sale Volunteer Opportunities
We always need volunteers to pitch in and give a few hours to fill various positions. You will have a great time and meet wonderful people while helping us sell the work of many local artists. You don’t need to be an expert to make a BIG difference. All volunteers will enjoy Hampton Coffee Company brews, assorted Dreesen’s Famous Donuts (the best in the world!) and a sumptuous lunch catered by Goldberg’s Deli, as well as a take-home “thank you” gift from the staff at Guild Hall for all of your generous hard work! Everyone is welcome! Events like our Clothesline Art Sale could not happen without the incredible help from our community volunteers. To become a volunteer, fill out the form below or contact Special Events.
Volunteer Positions
Cashier
Cashiers keep the sale moving! These volunteers will be located all throughout the sale at tables for either cash/check sales or credit sales. We will have a brief training meeting for all cashiers to ensure they are comfortable with the process beforehand. Cashier volunteers are needed from 8:30am-12:30pm or 12:30pm – 4pm.
Registration
Registration volunteers are the point people for artwork submissions. Volunteers will help artists ensure that their information in in order. Shifts are 2 hours each between 10am – 4:00pm the Thursday and Friday prior to the sale.
Hangers
Ever wonder how all of the that artwork gets up on the walls? Volunteers of course! Hangers are needed during registration on Thursday and Friday between 10am – 4:00pm and the day of the sale starting at 7am. An added bonus, you get a change to see all of the great submissions as they come in.
Validation
These volunteers will help organize the sales receipts and artist paperwork. Shifts for this position are 2 hours long and range from 10am – 4:30pm.
Greeter
These volunteers are the bright and shining faces of Guild Hall when patrons walk in the door. The event is FREE, but we warmly accept donations, and our hostess volunteers will be the ones who collect any incoming donations. Shifts are 2 hours and range from 9am – 4pm.
Check Writing
Check Writers will be responsible for just that! When artists sell their work, they will return after the sale to “check out.” During this process, check writers will write checks to artists for the amount they earned. There is one 3.5 hour shift from 4-7:30pm.
Check-in
Volunteers at the “check-in” station will be in the front of the building to start the process of Final Check Out. Artists will return with the pink copy of their registration form, which the volunteer will use to find the rest of their registration form. This will let the artist know if they sold any artwork and how much they earned. There is one 3.5 hour shift from 4-7:30pm.
Artist Check-Out
These volunteers complete the entire process of checking out. Artists will arrive to this station with any unsold artwork and/or a check for their earnings. Check-Out volunteers will ensure that the artist has retrieved the correct artwork and that they were given the correct compensation for their artwork. There is one 3.5 hour shift from 4-7:30pm.
