A Community Conversation About Mass Incarceration and the Criminal Justice System with Zachary Lazar, Sarah Koenig, and Garnette Cadogan

Guild Hall and EAST magazine invite you to join novelist Zachary Lazar, podcast host and reporter Sarah Koenig, and essayist Garnette Cadogan for a discussion of the incarceration crisis, one of the most urgent political issues of our time. Vengeance, Lazar’s new novel—a hybrid of fiction and nonfiction that The New Yorker called “truer than true”—tells a story about American notions of guilt and penance, racial bias, and the inherent perversity of punitive justice. Koenig, with Serial. has brought problems in the justice system to a nationwide audience. And Cadogan, a Martin Luther King Jr. visiting scholar at M.I.T., brings his expertise and research on the promise and perils of urban life.
