Overview

Calling all musicians, comedians, storytellers, and dancers alike – ALL AGES! Come join Guild Hall at The Clubhouse for an Open Mic Night and Silent Disco Dance Party.

Hosted by the Guild Hall Teen Arts Council, this night spotlights and celebrates the many talents of our East End community. Artists of all ages and experiences are encouraged to share any talents – a performance art piece, comedy, music, storytelling, dance, or something entirely off the top of their heads! To register and perform, please see the FAQ feature below and sign-up.

Following the Open Mic, rock the night away at our Silent Disco Dance Party! Tune in to various playlists carefully curated by the GHTAC teens through provided wireless headphones. Stay late and end the night with a (silent) bang!

The Clubhouse bar and kitchen will be open for both audience and artists to order and enjoy. Admission to the event will directly benefit the ongoing work of the Guild Hall Teen Arts Council. 

Open Mic: 6-7:30 PM
Silent Dance Party: 7:30-11 PM

Admission: $15 ($10 for Members)

NOTE: Patrons under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult after 9:30 pm.

OPEN MIC FAQ

Q: How do I sign-up for a slot?

A: Performers can sign up as individuals or a band/ensemble by emailing Anthony Madonna at amadonna@guildhall.org. Please include a description of your act/band and all technical needs in your email. 

Q: What backline is provided? What are artists expected to bring to the event?

A: Guild Hall will provide up to 8 wireless microphones; 2 microphones for acoustic instruments; 5 Passive DI Boxes; 5 Active DI Boxes; 1 1/8” cable with input to PA for playback from iPhone & MacBook; 5 on-stage monitors; Mic Stands; Guitar Stands; XLR Cables. Artists are expected to bring all instruments (including keyboard & drum kit); ¼” cables for instruments; instrument amplifiers; pedal boards, modulators, etc.

Q: Is there a time limit?

A: Individual artists will receive a time slot of 5-7 min. Collectives and bands will receive a time slot of 10  – 12min.

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: The program is open to Adults and High School Aged Teenagers.

Q: What level of experience is needed to perform/participate?

A: The program is open to all levels and experiences. If you are new to an instrument/talent, don’t worry. Open Mic is about having fun and being able to get up and experience what it is like to be a performing musician. If you are a practicing artist or professional, feel free to join us and share your work without pressure.

Q: Do artists participating in the Open Mic Night need to pay to attend?

A: Artists participating in the Open Mic Night do not need to pay the admission fee to attend the evening. If registering to perform, we ask that you share the event with others who may attend and pay the $15.00 admission fee ($10 for Members)

  • Guild Hall Teen Arts Council

    Founded in the Spring of 2017, the Guild Hall Teen Arts Council (GHTAC) is a collective of young creatives representing and celebrating a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. As employees of Guild Hall, GHTAC Members work within the institution to curate public programming, advance their own creativity, and progress Guild Hall’s outreach and relationship to our local teen community.

    Guild Hall was founded “to be a gathering place for the community where an appreciation for the arts would serve to encourage greater civic participation.” As our community develops, and our social understandings evolve, Guild Hall knows that the best way to continually grow our mission is to incorporate and encourage young voices to lead the way.

    GHTAC is a paid academic-year-long position. Members meet every Tuesday from 3:30–5:30pm, and are eligible to participate in weekly apprenticeship & mentorship hours with Guild Hall Staff & Community members. Once accepted into the TAC, members are active until their High School graduation. 

    Teens, age 14+, interested in developing skills related to contemporary art (visual, literary, and performing), leadership, community engagement, non-profit management, and museum/theater practices are encouraged to apply.
