SUMMARY:Hamptons Pride Parade
DESCRIPTION:Join Guild Hall and the GH Teen Arts Council as we march in the Second Annual Hamptons Pride Parade! \n\n\nFollowing last year’s inaugural runaway success\, Mayor Jerry Larsen has asked local nonprofit Hamptons Pride to continue organizing the parade\, and the East Hampton Village Police to again expertly direct it. The lineup starts at 11 am on Main Street near Pondview Lane and Guild Hall\, and the parade kicks off at noon. Registered participants will march east on Main Street to Newtown Lane\, Railroad Avenue\, and Lumber Lane\, ending in Herrick Park\, where there will be music and celebration with D.J. Karin Ward until 3 pm. \n\n\nThe Guild Hall Teen Arts Council (GHTAC) will participate in the parade with a “Pep Rally For Mental Health.” Facilitated by queer Latin X installation artist\, MAGO\, GHTAC has spent the last few months discussing the hardships the teen and LGBTQ+ community face in the Hamptons\, and the resources available to us to speak and combat them. In this way\, GHTAC has collaborated and coordinated to form a simple message; one of the most complex issues we face in our community can be surmounted as long as we are willing to speak about it – loud and proud. \n\n\n The “Pep Rally For Mental Health” will include a student-led marching band\, choreographed audience participation\, and bright stunt cards bearing messaging and keywords centered around mental health and inter-community support. Patrons who want to march with Guild Hall can contact Anthony Madonna at amadonna@guildhall.org. \n\n\n The celebration of PRIDE and community continues after the parade at GHTAC’s inaugural fashion show\, Leibers Legacy: A Teen Fashion Show. \n\n\nABOUT GUILD HALL TEEN ARTS COUNCIL\nThe Guild Hall Teen Arts Council (GHTAC) is the region’s first paid teen arts program. As employees of Guild Hall\, GHTAC members work to curate public programming\, advance their creativity\, increase Guild Hall’s outreach to local teens\, and learn through collaboration with Guild Hall staff. \n\n\nABOUT HAMPTONS PRIDE\nHamptons Pride\, Inc. is a not-for-profit public charity (tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code – EIN 86-3600121) that celebrates and commemorates the LGBTQ+ people and their allies on the East End of Long Island. Established by locals for the benefit of locals\, the organization’s founding goal is the creation of an historical marker and outdoor social area on the footprint of The Swamp (the last and longest-running gay club in the Hamptons) in what is now Wainscott Green\, a park in the Town of East Hampton. Hamptons Pride’s services\, including the annual Hamptons Pride Parade on the first Saturday in June\, are made possible by the generosity of individuals\, foundations\, and corporations. https://hamptonspride.org/

The Beatbox House comes to the William P. Rayner Artist-in-Residence through an ongoing partnership with Works & Process at the Guggenheim. \n\nPROGRAM \n10AM TALK: “Great Gardens of the World” by Vincent Simeone \nSince 1998\, Simeone has had the pleasure of traveling to some of the most breathtaking gardens in the world. The countries visited include Canada\, England\, France\, Germany\, Ireland\, Australia\, New Zealand and South Africa. This lecture provides detailed information on a wide variety of unusual and exotic species of plants\, picturesque views of natural and cultivated areas\, and helpful information on garden design and popular trends. Come along for a train ride through the Canadian Rockies\, a hiking trip into the wild bush of New Zealand\, a whale-watching expedition to Cape Town\, and a visit a 15th-century abbey in jolly old England. Don’t miss this unique and inspiring journey around the globe! \n12PM to 4PM: GARDEN TOUR\n \nLinden Hill\nDesigned by Hollander Design Landscape Architects with architecture by Kligerman Architecture and Design \nThe moment the designer first visited the site of this home\, they knew that its ancient trees and geology would have a major influence on the location and design of its new home and landscape. Massive copper beech\, fern leaf beech\, lindens\, and Japanese cypress punctuated the property like a constellation. The landscape design turns these trees and a remnant dune running through the property into focal points and destinations\, anchors\, and horizon views. The home’s buildings\, entry drive\, tennis court\, pool\, and gardens are all organized around giant trees\, which give the landscape its sense of timelessness. \nPondside\nDesigned by Hollander Design Landscape Architects with architecture by Peter Pennoyer Architects \nThe task at this long\, narrow property was to create outdoor living areas that expressed the family’s capacity for surprise\, delight\, and adventure. Once through the gate\, the drive proceeds\, winding its way under two majestic old plane trees as though it had been there forever. The driveway’s soft circuitous route celebrates the site’s existing trees and its peaceful\, pastoral character. Here\, they added groves of trees with seasonal presence that welcome spring\, flower during the summer\, and turn orange\, yellow\, and bronze in the fall. Broad blue stone terraces at the back of the house beckon with places to sit and enjoy the cool summer breezes. A tantalizing allée of crepe myrtles lined with hydrangeas and astilbes gives a peekaboo view down to the pond and acts as a draw towards the water. \nGardens on West End Road\nDesigned by Harmonia Inc. \nThis spectacular double property is set on a beautiful span of Georgica Pond. A romantic entry greets you as you walk the stone path through three large islands of mature Crape Myrtles underplanted with colorful lace cap hydrangea.  A 6’ “old-world charm” brick wall constructed of handmade bricks with a bell cap separates the Crab Apple alee driveway entrance from the privacy of the pool and gardens. On the adjacent parcel\, a 23’ tall sculpture titled 97.5° Arc x 9 commissioned by Bernar Venet is the centerpiece amongst the many mature towering specimen trees. \nGarden on Egypt Lane\nDesigned by Frederico Azevedo\, Unlimited Earth Care\, Bridgehampton \nThis garden was sensitively designed with native and well adapted plants. Meadows were designed to bring movement and life into the landscape\, and they feel sort of impromptu\, even though I carefully designed the textures and color pallet to elevate their effects. They are essentially designs that center plants and flowers that aid the environment and support the pollinator populations.
