SUMMARY:82nd Artist Members Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:For 82 years Guild Hall has reserved space in its exhibition schedule for the Annual Guild Hall Artist Members Exhibition. The first installment took place in 1938\, shortly after Guild Hall’s inception in 1931. It is the oldest non-juried show on Long Island and one of the few non-juried exhibitions still running. Experimenting with these techniques\, their work spans from self-portrait to reflected landscapes; expanding on the past years’ annual portrait series.  \nAn annual program\, Clarence Sheppard has been leading a digital photography project with Sag Harbor Elementary students for the past 17 years. The project is made possible in part by the Reutershan Educational Trust\, a privately funded art program created by Sag Harbor resident and architect Hobart “Hobbie” Betts.

SUMMARY:RE
DESCRIPTION:RESTART RENEW REFRESH REINVENT REUNITE \nAs Guild Hall begins the initial stages of reopening\, the Teen Arts Council (TAC) is investigating the idea of “reopen” and\, in general\, the prefix “re;” How will this phase\, and the pandemic that caused it\, alter how we interact with each other? In what ways is the world around us already reopening? How do we reopen to a more empathetic world\, rather than return to the status-quo?  \nWith these questions in mind each TAC Member has documented the “re” sights\, sounds\, and interactions they see on a daily basis\, culminating in a series of four vignettes projected on rear-facing windows of Guild Hall. \nRE is on view Friday – Monday evenings: June 26 – July 13. The work can be viewed from the parking lot at a self-regulated physical distancing (6 feet) from other patrons.  \nAll media recorded and collected by TAC Members\nVideo editing by TAC Member\, Anni Spacek\nProjection by Joe Brondo & Patrick Dawson\nCurated by Anthony Madonna  \nTeens Make Abstract Videos for Guild Hall by Christine Sampson in The East Hampton Star

SUMMARY:Julianne Moore and Alec Baldwin in SAME TIME\, NEXT YEAR (Virtual Staged Reading)
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nA virtual staged reading directed by Bob Balaban \nTo Benefit Guild Hall of East Hampton\, NY \nOne of the most popular romantic comedies of our time\, Same Time\, Next Year ran four years on Broadway\, winning a Tony Award for lead actress Ellen Burstyn. It remains one of the world’s most widely produced plays. The plot follows a love affair between two people\, Doris and George\, married to others\, who rendezvous once a year. Twenty-five years of manners and morals are hilariously and touchingly played out by the lovers. \nThe performance will benefit Guild Hall and launch our new vision for the 2020 Summer Season with a focus on restarting the local creative economy through collaborations with regional artists\, musicians\, and performers\, online and offline. \n“Delicious wit\, compassion\, a sense of humor and a feel for nostalgia.” The New York Times \n “Genuinely funny and genuinely romantic.” New York Post \nAfter you purchase your tickets a link to the reading will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the reading.

SUMMARY:Al Hirschfeld\, Behind The Lines: A Zoom visual visit of the Hirschfeld Century
DESCRIPTION:Join David Leopold as he takes us on a tour of the Hirschfeld Century\, an 82-year era in which Al Hirschfeld both recorded and defined so much of popular culture\, especially through his drawings of productions on Broadway and in Hollywood. He was there at the birth of television and captured its first half-century. He recorded more popular music than any MP3\, CD\, LP\, or wax cylinder ever did. His drawings of dance are among his most accomplished works. Leopold has spent 25 years studying Hirschfeld’s work\, the first 13 as Hirschfeld’s Archivist\, visiting him in his studio once or twice a week. In addition to curating exhibitions at the Library of Congress\, the Field Museum in Chicago\, and the Academy of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles among others\, he is the Creative Director of The Al Hirschfeld Foundation. His book\, The Hirschfeld Century: A Portrait of the Artist and His Age (Knopf)\, has been called by The Washington Post\, “An instant classic.” Booklist declared\, “Leopold emulates the economy and fluidity of Hirschfeld’s drawings in this star-studded\, anecdote-rich\, critically clarifying\, and thoroughly enlightening portrait of the portraits.” His illustrated talk will show you rarely seen images as well as old favorites\, and will include a post-show audience Q&A moderated by Josh Gladstone\, Artistic Director of the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall. \nA link to the live broadcast will be emailed to ticket holders in their confirmation receipts and again 24 hours in advance of the show.
